Meet Coach Gulden

He Knows How To Win

Coach John Gulden comes to Marywood from West Chester University (WCU), where he was an Assistant/Forwards Coach with the Women’s Varisty Rugby program. WCU is a Division I program that competes in the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA). During his time at WCU, the team made an appearance in the USA Rugby Final Four and competed in the first ever NCAA-sponsored National Rugby Championship Tournament.

Coach Gulden also received his Master’s degree in Sport Management and Athletics from WCU. In 2019, Coach Gulden was named Assistant Coach for the MARC NSCRO Women’s All-Star 7s Team and elected to the MARC Board of Directors, as Compliance Director.

Be all three at Marywood University as part of the first men’s and women’s varsity rugby teams. Both programs will begin competitive play in the fall as members of USA Rugby (the national governing body) and the Small College Division of the Mid Atlantic Rugby Conference (MARC).

Fall High School Rugby Tournaments at Marywood

  • Water and Ice will be provided for all teams
  • Athletic Trainers and EMT's onsite
  • Each team is guaranteed four (4) matches
  • Every player competing will receive a gift
  • A ten (10) All-Tournament Team Award
  • A Tournament MVP Award

Get Fit For Rugby

Marywood's Center for Athletics and Wellness offers extensive modern facilities for fitness, recreation, and athletic opportunities, including a premier fitness center, a climbing wall, Aquatic Center, an elevated running track, a dance/aerobic studio, an arena to showcase Pacer Sports, and high tech athletic training areas.

Outdoor athletic facilities include six tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, and basketball courts. The baseball and softball fields are some of the finest in the region, and Marywood offers a multipurpose natural grass field, as well as a synthetic turf field with lighting for evening events.
