Housekeeping

Superintendent of Building Services (Internal Only) (#610)

Hours:

  • 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
  • Mon - Fri from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • 1 hour lunch period 

Summary of Duties

  • Plans, organizes, and manages all matters related to Building Services
  • Oversees and manages housekeeping operational budget
  • Responsible for planning and purchasing/upgrades in housekeeping equipment
  • Responsible for biding the University’s janitorial supplies contract on annual basis
  • Responsible for evaluating the overall running of the Building Service Group and implementing improvements whenever/wherever necessary
  • Responsible for the hiring and firing of building service personnel
  • Responsible for the coordination of the University’s recycling program
  • Responsible for the purchasing of University Furnishing


Requirements

  • Educational:

    High School Diploma.

  • Work Experience Requirements:

    Minimum of three years experience in a supervisory role, preferable in housekeeping.

  • Special Qualifications:

    Drivers license required. This position is part of the essential personnel of the University. 

  • Essential Elements:

    • Ensure the day to day responsibilities of the building services group is completed
    • manage the workload within the department and ensure that it is equally distributed 
    • complete the annual reviews of the building services group 
    • work with the coordinators to implement improvements within the department
    • ensure all employees are trained to operate departmental equipment 
    • possess the ability to communicate and work effectively within the entire University community
    • should be familiar with the lay out of all buildings on campus
    • work with the conference and events office to develop a summer cleaning schedule 

  • Other Elements:

    • Must be able to work in Excel, Word, and Tofino Work Order System
    • May be asked to return to work in the case of an emergency during the day, or night (outside of shift hours)

  • Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to walk for long periods of time
    • must be able to lift upwards of 25 pounds on occasion
