Director of Institutional Equity and Inclusion, and Title IX Coordinator (#707)
Summary of Duties
Marywood University seeks applications for the full-time position of Director of Institutional Equity and Inclusion, and Title IX Coordinator. Founded in 1915, Marywood is sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Director of Institutional Equity and Inclusion and Title IX Coordinator serves as the senior leader for equity, inclusion, and diversity on campus, as well as Title IX compliance and process. The successful candidate is responsible to provide leadership of institutional efforts that support people’s range of identities and lived experiences, all of which are valued and respected as part of Marywood’s mission and values. These efforts, while enhancing the experience of all members of the Marywood community, are particularly focused on those who have been historically marginalized or underrepresented, and encompass all areas of campus life: curricular, co- and extra-curricular, enrollment, advancement, marketing, business, operations, and affirmation of equity practices in human resources.
The successful candidate will:
- Understand equity and inclusion as integral to the mission of Marywood University.
- Be a resource for ongoing campus-wide discussion related to equity and inclusion.
- Initiate the planning and organization of equity and inclusion programs.
- Conduct, in conjunction with other offices, campus climate surveys.
- Work with Director of Student Equity and Inclusion on campus-wide programming initiatives.
- Build relationships with off-campus resources.
- Oversee and be responsible for Title IX compliance including University Sexual Misconduct and Complaint policies and procedures and Anti-Discrimination and Complaint Procedures Policy.
- Educate the University community on issues related to Title IX and University Sexual Misconduct and Complaint policies and procedures and Anti-Discrimination and Complaint Procedures Policy.
- Train University community on reporting responsibilities.
- Plan and implement training for community members involved in implementing Sexual Misconduct/Anti-Discrimination policies and procedures (Deputy Title IX Coordinators, investigators, hearing panelists, Campus Safety Officers, Housing and Residence Life staff, etc.).
- Insure institutional compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations.
- Work collaboratively with various campus officials on tracking and reporting.
This position reports directly to the Provost.

In addition to being on the leadership team of Academic Affairs, this position will have close working relationships with the Director of Student Equity and Inclusion, English Language Learner tutor, Dean of Students and Student Life staff, and Director of Human Resources.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution.

- Experience with processes that support equity and inclusion.
- Track record of successfully partnering with on-campus offices and with community resources.
- Leading projects as an innovative change agent.
- Communication skills that solve problems by building consensus and use of negotiation/mediation; as well as the ability to effectively communicate across differences.
- Commitment to the use of evidence-based best practices related to equity, inclusion, social justice, and inter-cultural competencies.
- Knowledge of and behaviors exhibited that are aligned with an understanding of intersectionality.
- Experience with administration and implementation of Title IX compliance processes.
- Working familiarity with related federal, state, and local regulations and how these are implemented in a higher education setting.
Additionally, the following qualifications and experiences are preferred:
- Experience in university infrastructure related to equity, inclusion, and diversity.
- Knowledge of and experience in implementing successful recruitment and retention strategies for historically underrepresented and underserved populations.
