Marywood University’s assistant sports information director, Jay Monahan, offers help to seniors who are most vulnerable to contracting the COVID-19 virus. Mr. Monahan, along with two other men, took to Facebook to let senior citizens and high-risk individuals know that each of them is available to grocery shop or pick up prescription medications as needed.
Mr. Monahan posted to Facebook, “In light of the pressing need to self-isolate during the COVID-19 outbreak, if anyone knows of Luzerne County senior citizens or high-risk individuals who need grocery shopping done, please feel free to message me with their contact information. Be well, friends. Stay inside.”
After thinking about friends of his who live out of the area and who have parents and/or other family members living here, he wondered how those family members were getting the essentials they needed. Mr. Monahan said, “I thought I would do this to help to keep people home and away from crowds.”
